Our pilot impact model 2026-27

Reimagining fashion as a vehicle for youth empowerment, circularity and community.

Fashion has the power to be far more than something we buy.

At Slogue, we use fashion as a way to connect young people with creativity, practical skills, community and the circular economy.

Rather than seeing clothing as disposable, we invite young people to see its potential — to repair it, remake it, personalise it and value it.

But we're not just running workshops; we're building a model that brings together organisations already creating positive change, helping rescued textiles become opportunities for creativity, leadership and community connection.

Why We Exist

Today's young people are growing up in a world where clothing is cheaper than ever and valued as such. Fast fashion has normalised overconsumption while practical making and repair skills have disappeared from everyday life.

At the same time, many schools, councils, youth organisations and environmental groups are working to address related challenges:

  • engaging young people in meaningful ways

  • reducing textile waste

  • building creative confidence

  • supporting youth wellbeing

  • creating pathways for emerging creatives

  • strengthening local communities

We believe all these can be addressed through regular and accessible Fashion Flips.

What We're Building

The Slogue Impact Model is a collaborative ecosystem that connects rescued textiles, young creative mentors and community organisations to create meaningful opportunities for young people.

By bringing together partners from education, local government, youth services, the circular economy and the fashion industry, we're building a model that can be adapted and repeated in communities across Australia.

Rather than creating another standalone program, we're creating a platform that organisations can become part of.

How the Model Works

Rescue

We work with textile recovery organisations, clothing reuse initiatives, fashion brands and community partners to give unwanted clothing and materials a second life through creative education.

Create

Young people learn to redesign, repair and transform clothing using rescued materials, building practical skills while discovering fashion as something they can create, not simply consume.

Mentor

Emerging fashion creatives are employed as youth mentors, developing leadership, teaching and professional experience while inspiring the next generation in a peer-to-peer learning environment.

Connect

We partner with schools, councils, youth centres, libraries, community organisations and sustainability initiatives to deliver accessible circular fashion experiences where they're needed most.

Grow

As the model develops, we aim to create long-term pathways for participants, mentors and partner organisations while strengthening local circular fashion ecosystems.

The Slogue Impact Fund

As Slogue grows, we intend to reinvest a dedicated portion of revenue from public ticketed programs into expanding access and developing youth leadership.

Over time, this fund will help support:

  • subsidised community workshops

  • youth centre programs

  • Youth Program opportunities

  • partnerships with community organisations

  • future initiatives that strengthen local and global circular fashion ecosystems

By linking commercial programs directly to community outcomes, we aim to embed social impact into the way Slogue grows.

Pilot & Validate (2026–27)

The Slogue Impact Model is currently being piloted across a range of community settings to test, refine and measure its impact.

Current pilot and strategic partners include:

  • Slow Fashion Hubs

  • Re Place

  • Canada Bay Council

  • North Sydney Coal Loader

  • St Scholastica's College

Together, we're exploring how circular fashion can become an ongoing pathway for youth engagement, creativity, environmental education and community connection.

Measuring What Matters

We're currently developing our impact measurement framework as part of our 2026–27 pilot phase.

As the model evolves, we'll begin reporting on outcomes including:

  • young people engaged

  • participant confidence and creativity

  • youth mentor development

  • Youth Program participation

  • textile rescue and reuse

  • community partnerships

  • repeat engagement

  • long-term pathways into leadership and creative careers

Because meaningful change happens over time, we're committed to measuring not just what we do, but the difference it makes.

Join the Ecosystem

We're always looking to collaborate with organisations that share our vision.

Whether you work in education, youth services, local government, textile recovery, sustainability, fashion or community development, we'd love to explore how we can create impact together.

Together, we can help a generation see fashion not just as something to buy—but as something to make, value and use to create stronger communities.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
